Process of implementation
Our client, owner of a variety legumes plantation was concerned about the long period of dry season for the irrigation of his crops. That coupled with the very unstable power supply from the grid in that part of the country had him reach out to Electram Engineering.
Our engineer went to his site and assessed his power needs ( All free of charge). These power needs were just a 3HP submersible water pump.
The site for the solar power plant was determined, calculations for the power needs done and a full quotation was provided. This was then assessed and validated by the client and implementation began,
Overcoming challenges
Major challenge was sizing the PV Generator accurately. Like in all our projects, this was overcome by making use of solar irradiation data for the area and calculating a suitable margin by which to “oversize” the PV Generator so the fall back in times of low solar irradiation is still within the operating margin for the water pump.
